BIOCHEMISTS are concerned with the chemistry of
biological processes and study the most basic life
processes at the molecular level. Typical
biochemistry careers include those in the pharmaceutical
and health care fields, food and brewing
industries, agriculture, medicine (both
veterinary and human) and forensic sciences.
The discovery of the structure of DNA in 1953
and the recent mapping of the 3 billion chemical
bases that make up the human genome characterise
landmark achievements in biochemistry.
